The People Empowerment Project is dedicated to empowering individuals impacted by poverty, incarceration, and trauma. Through our Workforce Workshop Program, we equip participants with the skills and opportunities needed for meaningful employment. We also provide grief counseling and holistic support to address the underlying pain that can lead to substance abuse and violence. By fostering healing, resilience, and economic independence, we strive to build stronger individuals, families, and communities.
We envision a world where every person—regardless of their past—is empowered to heal, grow, and thrive. Through transformative workforce development, compassionate grief counseling, and community-based support, we aim to break cycles of incarceration, violence, and addiction. Our vision is a future where healing leads to opportunity, and opportunity leads to lasting change.
Founder & Executive Director
Albert Stokes Jr. founded the People Empowerment Project in 2024 with a simple but powerful mission: to create real opportunities for low-income and formerly incarcerated individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. Drawing from personal experiences and years of advocacy work, Albert recognized that too often, systemic barriers kept people trapped in cycles of poverty and recidivism. He envisioned an organization that would not only address immediate needs like employment readiness but would also empower individuals to envision and achieve long-term success.
Albert’s passion for social justice, community building, and workforce development drives the heart of the People Empowerment Project. Under his leadership, the organization has launched initiatives such as the Workforce Workshop Program, offering critical skills training, mentorship, and job placement assistance to those seeking a fresh start.
With a background in nonprofit leadership and a deep commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, Albert leads with compassion, innovation, and a relentless belief in the power of second chances. His work continues to inspire a growing network of partners, volunteers, and community members dedicated to breaking barriers and building a more equitable future.
